Mencius said, "Human Nature is intrinsically benevolent." He asserted that we all had the same capacities for moral perfection and infinite wisdom as sages. In order to revive the free flow of our original nature, we need to value benevolence and righteousness above credits and material gains. The perfect mode of the wisdom and vitality of our nature can lead to not only our own salvation but also the Universal Harmony depicted by Confucius. |
